Ah, red…want to know a little secret? I used to dislike red, I found it bossy and loud in spaces but over the years I have come around and embraced this sultry and moody colour. After all it is the colour of love and passion, and a symbol of good fortune and joy, so what’s not to love?

I believe it was Laura Ashley that said every room needs a hit of black, well at least that is what my late Grandmother told me. Whether it is a lamp, vase or side table it’s an anchoring and grounding piece within a space. Dare I say that red or any variation of red, be it berry or rust, can also be a grounding and anchoring colour which immediately adds a bit of luxury and warmth to a space…if done right that is.
